Waypoints are published geographical positions (internal database) or pilot entered positions, and are used for all phases of flight planning and navigation.

Communication and navigation frequencies can be found and tuned from waypoint data. Refer to the Audio and CNS Section for details.

This portion of the guide shall discuss accessing waypoint information, viewing nearest waypoints, creating user waypoints, and creating fixes. There are six different waypoint types configured in the system:

Waypoints can be selected by entering the ICAO identifier, entering the name of the facility, or by entering the city name. As a waypoint identifier, facility name, or location is entered, the system scrolls through the database, displaying those waypoints matching the characters which have been entered to that point.

If there is not a waypoint in the database matching the exact characters entered, the FastFind function will analyze the entered characters and use predictive logic based on current GPS location to suggest airports and waypoints. See the Controls portion of the System Overview section for detailed instructions on entering data in the system.

If duplicate entries exist for an identifier, the Select Duplicate Button shall be used to choose the desired waypoint if the desired waypoint is not already displayed under the entry field.
