The altimeter uses the pitot-static system to sense atmospheric pressure to display the barometric altitude in feet (by default) on a rolling number gauge. This moving tape is located to the right of the attitude indicator. Major and Minor tick marks are displayed on the altimeter to indicate intervals of barometric altitude. Major tick marks are accompanied with numeric values while the minor tick marks are smaller and are displayed evenly between the major tick marks. The current altitude is displayed in the black pointer with intervals of 20 feet. The pilot has the option to enable a meters or feet overlay feature on the altimeter depending on system configuration.

The Selected Altitude is displayed above the Altimeter in the box indicated by a selection bug symbol. A bug corresponding to this altitude is shown on the tape; if the Selected Altitude exceeds the range shown on the tape, the bug appears at the corresponding edge of the tape.

Below the altimeter is the datum pressure setting in a Kollsman window. The datum pressure (barometric pressure setting) is adjusted so the altimeter displays the altitude in Mean Sea Level (MSL) accounting for the local atmospheric effects.
