Appendix A (System Messaging)
The current version of the pertinent flight manual supersedes information found in this document. Refer to the current version of the pertinent flight manual for recommended pilot actions.
This section provides information regarding system messages that may be displayed by the system. Knowledge of the aircraft, systems, flight conditions, and other existing operational priorities must be considered when responding to a message. Always use sound pilot judgment. The current version of the pertinent flight manual takes precedence over any conflicting guidance found in this section.

System Alert Window — A dedicated section of the display to announce Warnings, Cautions, and Advisories.

PFW/MFW Indications — Alerts providing situational awareness to the pilot or crew and have dedicated locations around the display.
- Red or Yellow X Indications - Replaces a display field on the PFW when it is no longer receiving data, or the data is invalid.
- Red or Yellow EIS Indications -Indicates the engine parameter has exceeded a warning or caution threshold and the appropriate action must be taken to correct the condition causing the parameter exceedance.

CNS Bar Indications — Indications to the pilot or crew of a situation with the communication and transponder systems.

AFCS Box Annunciations — Used to display functional operations of the AFCS. (See the AFCS Status Box portion of the AFCS section for more information)

System Messages — Accessed by navigating to the System Messages window, this is where all messages are stored for the pilot or crew to refer back to while the aircraft is in the air.

Banner Messages — An informational System Message displayed on the lower banner of the display related to system faults, FMS and navigation information, and other pertinent information.

Maintenance Messages — Primarily accessed through the System Messages window, these messages will trigger the Banner Messages Button at bottom of the display to flash only when the aircraft is on the ground.

Pop Up Messages — Similar to PFW/MFW indications, these messages alert the crew to unexpected situations (e.g., Traffic, Terrain, or Missed Approach).

HSI Indications — These indications appear inside the HSI on the PFW and alert the crew to navigation discrepancies.
