Getting Started

When using your Edge^® 840 bike computer the first time, you should complete these tasks to set it up and learn about the basic features.

Charge the bike computer (Charging the Device).
Install the bike computer using the standard mount (Installing the Standard Mount) or the out-front mount (Installing the Out-Front Mount).
Turn on the bike computer (Device Overview).
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup.

During the initial setup, you can pair your phone with your bike computer to receive notifications, sync your activities, and more (Pairing Your Phone).
Check for software updates (System Settings).

For the best experience, you should keep the software on your bike computer up to date. Software updates provide changes and improvements to privacy, security, and features.
Locate satellites (Acquiring Satellite Signals).
Go for a ride (Going for a Ride).
Upload your ride to your Garmin Connect™ account (Sending Your Ride to Garmin Connect).
