Runway Occupancy Awareness (ROA)
Traffic information shown on system displays is provided as an aid in visually acquiring traffic. Not all runways will provide ROA alerting. ROA alerts are dependent on ADS-B data from participating traffic.
The Runway Occupancy Awareness (ROA) function is an extension of the ADS-B traffic function and will be active when ADS-B IN is enabled and Surface Indications and Alerts (SURF IA) is not inhibited in the system. The ROA function is available when ownship is on or near a runway with a hard surface and served by a precision instrument approach. The ownship can be considered near a runway when located on the surface within 1500 ft of a runway or airborne within 3 NM of the runway threshold and below 1000 ft above field elevation. The ROA function uses the Navigation and SafeTaxi® databases for airport and runway data.
