Traffic Avoidance
Do not rely solely upon the display of traffic information for collision avoidance maneuvering. The traffic display does not provide collision avoidance resolution advisories and does not under any circumstances or conditions relieve the pilot’s responsibility to see and avoid other aircraft.
Do not rely solely upon the display of traffic information to accurately depict all of the traffic information within range of the aircraft. Due to lack of equipment, poor signal reception, and/or inaccurate information from other aircraft, traffic may be present but not represented on the display.
Pilots should be aware of traffic system limitations. Traffic systems require transponders of other aircraft to respond to system interrogations. If the transponders do not respond to interrogations due to phenomena such as antenna shading or marginal transponder performance, traffic may be displayed intermittently, or not at all. Aircraft without altitude reporting capability are shown without altitude separation data or climb descent indication. Pilots should remain vigilant for traffic at all times.

The two traffic avoidance systems, Traffic Advisory System (TAS) or Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System I (TCAS I), are optional with the installation of a 800 series GTS. These traffic systems enhance flight crew situational awareness by monitoring the airspace for transponder-equipped aircraft. They also provide visual annunciations and voice alerts to assist the flight crew with the visual acquisition of traffic.
TAS/TCAS I are capable of tracking up to 75 intruding aircraft equipped with transponders. They can display a maximum of 30 aircraft with the highest threat potential simultaneously. The system provides no surveillance information for aircraft without operating transponders.
