COM Operation

NOTICE

The COM Operation section does not apply to any GDU 116B installations.

NOTICE

SL30 and SL40 radios are not compatible for full integration with the AXIS™ flight display. Standby frequencies from these units can be tuned to the system, while active cannot.

Communication radio operations are controlled through the internal audio panel of the AXIS flight display. Integration between third party communication radios encompasses the ability to control the following aspects of the radio:

  • Radio Monitoring
  • Radio Squelch
  • Active Radio Display
  • Standby Radio Receiving
  • Frequency Swap
  • Volume Control

In the event of a communication radio failure, an amber 'X' will be displayed over the failed radios display. The current monitored and microphone frequency will still be indicated behind the amber 'X'. If there is an external communication radio installed and the internal radio fails, the MIC and MON will be forced to the external radio. If there is a PFD failure, the external communication radio will automatically tune to the emergency frequency (121.5 mHz).
