During an approach or while in a holding pattern using the FMS, the flight plan will be suspended. "SUSP" will be annunciated on the HSI while in suspend mode. If on an approach the SUSP Mode is activated after the missed approach point (MAP), this allows the pilot to take controls of the aircraft and land. If no action is taken by the pilot, the aircraft will continue to fly the last heading provided by the FMS until suspend mode is deactivated. While in a holding pattern the system will enter SUSP Mode and continue to fly the holding pattern until the pilot takes action. Refer to the Flight management section for more information on FMS holding patterns and approaches.

After suspend mode is deactivated the flight plan will automatically sequence to the next waypoint in the flight plan. If in a holding pattern and suspend mode is deactivated, the flight plan will continue the hold until the holding fix has been reached with the option to reactivate the suspend mode. Once the flight plan has continued to the next waypoint, the option to enter OBS mode replaces the suspend mode option.
