Downloading BirdsEye Imagery

Before you can download and use BirdsEye imagery, your device must have an active subscription or credits.

You can download BirdsEye imagery to your computer and to a compatible Garmin® device.

  1. Start the BaseCamp™ application, and connect your device to your computer.
  2. Select My Collection or a list to which the downloaded imagery file can be added.
  3. Select BirdsEye > Download BirdsEye Imagery.
    TIP: You can also download BirdsEye imagery files for areas near one or more saved items by right-clicking the item and selecting Create BirdsEye Imagery from Selection.
  4. Select a device from the Available Devices drop-down list, and select Next.
  5. Select a product from the Products drop-down list, and select Next.
  6. Enter a name for the downloaded imagery file.
  7. Select an option to define an area on the map for which you need to download imagery:
    • To select a rectangular area on the map, select Create or re-size a rectangular area.

    • To select a free-form area, select Draw a free-form area.

    • To show the selected area on the map, select Show selected area.

  8. Select an image quality option from the Detail Level drop-down list.

    An estimated file size appears for the selected image quality. If you are copying the imagery to your device, you should verify your device has enough available storage space for the imagery file.

  9. Select Download.
  10. If necessary, double-click the name of the new BirdsEye imagery download to view additional details.

    A progress bar in the Properties tab indicates the progress of the data transfer.

  11. Select the Copy imagery to device after download check box to copy the imagery file to your device immediately after downloading it (optional).
  12. Select Finish.
