Broadcasting Heart Rate Data

You can broadcast your heart rate data from your Garmin® watch and view it on your Edge® bike computer. Broadcasting heart rate data decreases battery life.

TIP: You can customize the activity settings on your watch to broadcast your heart rate data automatically when you begin an activity. See the owner's manual for your watch for more information.
  1. On the bike computer, select Menu symbol > Sensors > Add Sensor > Heart Rate.
NOTE: The first time you broadcast heart rate data, you must pair the watch and bike computer. After they are paired, the Edge bike computer connects to the watch automatically when you turn on heart rate broadcasting from the watch, and the heart rate sensor is active and within range.
NOTE: You can also swipe down from the top of the screen to open the status widget, and select Sensors > Add Sensor > Heart Rate.
  2. On the watch, turn on Broadcast HR.
  3. When the sensor appears on the bike computer, select Plus symbol.
  4. Select Checkmark symbol to pair using a secure Bluetooth® connection.
NOTE: You can select Close symbol to pair using an open Bluetooth connection. For more information about connection types, go to garmin.com/hrm_connection_types.
  5. Confirm that the PINs match, and select Checkmark symbol on both devices.

The watch starts broadcasting your heart rate data.

  6. Select Checkmark symbol to add a custom heart rate data screen to the bike computer (optional).
