Update Options
Do not turn off the device or disconnect the power during a software update. Turning off the power during a software update may cause the device to become unresponsive.
- You can update the device software using an update file loaded onto USB flash drive. You can prepare the USB flash drive by manually downloading the software update files , or you can prepare the USB drive using the Garmin Express™ app. (Updating the Software Using a USB Flash Drive).
- If the stereo is connected to a wireless network, you can update the software using the Fusion® Audio app on a mobile device instead of using an update file loaded onto a USB flash drive (Updating the Software Using the Fusion Audio App).
- If the stereo is on software version 6.20 or later and connected to a compatible Garmin® chartplotter, you can update the stereo through an ActiveCaptain® or a Garmin Express network update (Network Update Options ). If the stereo software version is earlier than 6.20, you must first update using a USB flash drive before you can update it using a compatible Garmin chartplotter.
- The device may restart a few times when updating. This is normal.
- You can program only newer versions of software on the device.
