Troubleshooting for Dive Setup Sharing

If you encounter issues sharing dive settings between your devices (Sharing Dive Settings Between Devices), you can try these troubleshooting tips.

The dive computer does not appear as an available device or is unable to receive data.

  • The Garmin Share app is turned off.
  • The Setup Sharing acknowledgment has not been accepted.
  • The device has not enabled the pre-dive check options.
  • There are too many Bluetooth® enabled devices connected to the Garmin Share app.
  • Open the Garmin Share app or navigate to the dive pre-check screen on both dive computers.
  • In the Dive Setup menu, accept the disclaimers and enable the Setup Sharing pre-dive check options.
  • Remove a device from the Garmin Share app.

Some settings were received in the Garmin Share app, but were not applied.

  • The dive computer sending data has a setting or feature that the receiving dive computer does not have.
  • The dive computer sending data sent a non-dive feature, such as a waypoint.
  • Review the settings that were not applied.
  • Navigate to the pre-dive check screen and apply the new settings.

The incoming data is not supported or uses an incompatible dive mode.

  • Settings cannot be applied from one dive mode to a different dive mode.
  • Your dive computer does not have that dive mode.
  • Your dive computer does not support that gas, and the gases will not be transferred.
  • You are locked out of the dive mode.
  • Select matching dive modes on both dive computers.
  • Select different gases to transfer from the source device.
  • Disable the Deco Lockout option or reset your tissue load.

The timestamp data for CNS, OTU, SI time, or no-fly time seems incorrect.

  • One device has the incorrect time.
  • By design, no-fly time is not recalculated after a data transfer.

Make sure both devices show the correct time. You can sync with a paired phone or acquire GPS signals to update the current time.

The device is unable to run a dive test against the other dive computer.

The device attempts to verify NDL and TTS times if the settings have been applied within five minutes of being created. This warning is to signify that those usual checks have not been performed.

Apply new settings within five minutes of the settings transfer.

Decompression guidance does not match.

  • The new dive settings have been applied, but the tissue load does not match.
  • The new tissue load has been applied, but the dive settings do not match.
  • Review the transferred data, and evaluate which tissue load is correct. If necessary, transfer the correct tissue load to one of the devices.
  • Transfer the dive settings as well as the tissue load.

The N2/He Load does not match after transferring tissues.

  • The surface pressure of the two dive computers does not match. This can happen with normal variance between depth sensors.
  • Once per minute processing has happened on one device but not the other. This is especially notable immediately after a dive, as you are quickly off-gassing.
  • The high gradient factor is different.
  • If you did not receive a message about differing decompression guidance, you should not need to worry about a small (<5%) difference in tissue load.
  • Apply tissue load settings quickly after sending or receiving them.

  • Update the gradient factor settings to match.
