Checking the Motor Cradle and Latch Pedal Springs

The springs allow you to smoothly stow and deploy the motor. The motor cradle and latch pedal springs may become worn over time. If the springs are damaged, rusted, or worn, you must replace them. Before you replace the latch pedal springs, you must remove the mount base shrouds (Removing the Mount Shrouds).

WARNING

Failure to replace worn or damaged springs could result in impact damage to the trolling motor or accidental trolling motor deployment, resulting in property damage or personal injury.

  1. With the motor in the stowed position, examine the two latch pedal springs Callout number 1 and two cradle springs Callout number 2 for wear, corrosion, and damage.
