Approach and Missed Approach waypoints shall be displayed on the VSD. The glideslope or glidepath will be displayed as a dashed gray line when inactive. The glideslope shall be displayed in magenta when it is active, and the glidepath shall be displayed in magenta when it is active.

If a Vectors-to Final approach has been loaded but not activated, a discontinuity may be displayed on the VSD between the last enroute or arrival waypoint to the final approach course.

If MAP vertical guidance is specified, the profile of the missed approach shall be displayed on the VSD. It shall be displayed in gray until it becomes the active leg, at which point is displayed in magenta. As the width of the swath for the terrain expands at the MAP, the terrain height may appear as an abrupt vertical discrepancy on the VSD. The position of the aircraft symbol on the vertical scale shall be depicted on the bottom of the VSD for climb-out on the missed approach. Once the selected altitude is reached, the aircraft symbol shall be depicted in the middle of the VSD (as if in the cruise phase).
