SOS for fēnix 9 Pro - inReach
Before you can use the SOS function, you must have a fēnix® 9 Pro - inReach® watch with an active inReach service plan. Always test your device outdoors before using it on a trip.
When using a geostationary communication satellite connection to activate the SOS function, you must ensure that you have a clear view of the sky and that you stop moving, use the pointing interface to orient your device toward the satellite, and tilt the device to the correct elevation angle. Connecting to the satellites may take 30 seconds or more of good satellite signal strength.
Satellite coverage for this device is only available in the continental United States, select parts of Canada, and most of Europe. In areas of the globe above 65 degrees north, the satellite network will orbit below the horizon and be unable to provide a clear connection.
LTE coverage is available in select countries that have LTE mobile service. LTE coverage in specific areas within each of the countries is dependent on the network coverage and network conditions of each respective carrier.
Some jurisdictions regulate or prohibit the use of satellite communications devices. It is the responsibility of the user to know and follow all applicable laws in the jurisdictions where the device is intended to be used.
During an emergency, you can use your fēnix 9 Pro - inReach device to contact the Garmin Response℠ center to request help. Initiating an SOS rescue sends a message to the Garmin Response team, and they notify the appropriate emergency responders of your situation. You can communicate with the Garmin Response team during your emergency while you wait for help to arrive. You should only use the SOS function in a real emergency situation.
Initiating an SOS Rescue
When you initiate an SOS rescue on your fēnix 9 Pro - inReach watch, you can correspond with the Garmin Response team to communicate the nature of your emergency. Your replies let the emergency response service know that you are capable of interacting with them during the rescue.
Canceling an SOS Request
If you no longer need assistance, you can cancel an SOS request after it is sent to the Garmin Response team.
