GPS Approach Mode

GPS Approach Mode provides more precise tracking of lateral approach guidance than GPS Navigation Mode. GPS Approach Mode can be utilized to fly RNAV (GPS) approaches with or without vertical guidance. When GPS Approach Mode is armed, Glidepath Mode will also annunciate as armed, regardless of whether or not a glidepath is available.
293: GPS Approach Mode Armed (Glidepath Mode Arms Automatically)

For those RNAV (GPS) approaches without a glidepath, another vertical mode may be selected for the autopilot to fly a stabilized approach. If a glidepath is available but the pilot wants to fly the approach without capturing the vertical guidance, pressing the NAV Key or NAV Button instead of the APR Button or APR Key will prevent glidepath capture. Again, another vertical mode (e.g., VS or FLC) may be selected to fly a stabilized approach.
