Alerts for controlled/special-use airspace can be turned on or off. This does not affect the airspaces listed on 'Nearest' or the airspace boundaries depicted on map displays, it simply turns on/off the alert provided when the aircraft is approaching or near an airspace.

Alerting for an altitude buffer, which “expands” the vertical range above or below an airspace, can also be set. For example, if the Alert Altitude Buffer is set at 500 feet, and the aircraft altitude reaches 500 ft above/ below the airspace floor/ceiling, the flight crew is notified with an alert message.

Additionally, alerting for airspaces will become available for viewing when the aircraft is projected to enter or is already inside of airspace.
