The AXIS™ Flight Display(s) are highly configurable
and display of the vertical speed indicator (VSI) may vary from the examples discussed in
the section.
The Vertical Speed Indicator (VSI) displays the aircraft vertical speed using a non-moving tape
labeled with major and minor tick marks. The major tick marks are abbreviated with the first
numerical position being displayed (e.g. 1000, 2000, and 3000 would be displayed as 1, 2, and
3). The minor tick marks are displayed in even intervals between the major tick marks. In full
screen mode, the current vertical speed is displayed as a numerical value inside a black
arrow. In split-screen mode the VSI is abbreviated as a white triangular arrow with no
