Relative Terrain Map Overlays
The ‘Map’ is the principal MFD for viewing terrain information. Relative terrain information is also available for display on the ‘Map.’
When relative terrain information is enabled on the MFW Map Page, a relative terrain legend is viewable in the ‘Overlay Status Detail’ Page by touching the ‘Status’ Box. A relative terrain overlay enabled icon also appears in the ‘Status’ Box on the ‘Map’.
The ‘Map Menu’ window provides a means for enabling/disabling the display of relative terrain while the point obstacles (such as towers), and wire obstacles (such as power lines) are enabled/disabled from the ‘Advanced Settings’ window found by scrolling down in the ‘Map Menu’ Page.
The pilot can display relative terrain information independently of point or wire obstacle information; however, obstacles for which TAWS warnings are issued are shown when terrain is selected for display and the map range is within the setting limit.
On the MFW Map, the pilot can view an obstacle height in AGL and MSL by touching the obstacle on the page. The Radial Menu will show an obstacle symbol on the Dynamic Button. Touching the Obstacle Dynamic Button will pull up a page with information of the obstacle, including the AGL and MSL height.
