SurfaceWatch (Optional)

WARNING

Do not use SurfaceWatchâ„¢ information as the primary method of flight guidance during airborne or ground operations. The SurfaceWatch feature does not have NOTAM or ATIS information regarding the current active runway, condition, or information about the position of hold lines.

NOTICE

Due to known database irregularities, it is possible to receive erroneous SurfaceWatch annunciations. When operating at airports that generate these nuisance alerts, it is recommended to disable SurfaceWatch if visual confirmation of correct runway lineup is assured.

NOTICE

For single pilot aircraft the 'Split COM' function will remove aural alerts from the passenger and co-pilot headsets.

The SurfaceWatch feature provides aural and visual annunciations to help the pilot maintain situational awareness and avoid potential runway incursions during ground and air operations in the airport environment. This feature is an additional "paid for enablement". The full SurfaceWatch feature is not available in Reversionary Mode. The SurfaceWatch feature is comprised of the following key components:

  • Alert Annunciations

    • Taxiway Takeoff

    • Check Runway (during takeoff or landing)

    • Taxiway landing

  • Provides the pilot with voice alerts at key transition points and runway distance remaining callouts.

  • Provides information on the Primary Flight Window (PFW) that contains runway and taxiway information that changes as the aircraft moves through the airport environment.
