The Airspeed Indicator displays airspeed on a rolling number gauge using a moving tape. The true airspeed (TAS) and ground speed (GS) is indicated in knots below the Airspeed Indicator. The standard configuration of the airspeed tape has major tick marks with numeric labels every ten Knots Indicated Airspeed (KIAS). Minor tick marks are displayed at intervals of five KIAS between the major tick marks. 60 knots of airspeed is viewable on the tape at a time with the indication of airspeed beginning at 20 knots. The indicated airspeed of the aircraft is displayed inside the black pointer. The pointer remains black until reaching velocity never exceed speed (V_NE), at which point it turns red.

A color-coded (red, white, green, yellow, and red/white 'barber pole') speed range strip is available to be configured on the moving tape. The colors denote flaps operating range, normal operating range, caution range, and never-exceed speed (V_NE). A red range may also be present for low speed awareness. The Airspeed Trend Vector is a vertical, magenta line, extending up or down on the airspeed scale, emerging from the tip of the black airspeed indication. The end of the trend vector corresponds to the predicted airspeed in 6 seconds if the current rate of acceleration is maintained. If the trend vector crosses V_NE, the text of the actual airspeed readout changes to amber and the aural alert "OVERSPEED OVERSPEED" is triggered. The trend vector is absent if the speed remains constant or if any data needed to calculate airspeed is not available due to a system failure.
