VNAV target altitudes can be changed while editing the active flight plan (see the Altitude Constraints portion of the Flight Management Section for details). However, changing the current VNAV Target Altitude while ALTV Mode is active causes the flight director to revert to PIT Mode. The appropriate altitude capture mode will be armed in preparation to capture the new VNAV Target Altitude or the Selected Altitude, depending on which altitude is to be intercepted first.
