Creating A Pilot-Defined Hold At The Aircraft Present Position:

NOTICE

When a pilot-defined hold is created at the aircraft present position, the hold fix is placed slightly in front of the aircraft to allow the aircraft time to prepare for the upcoming turn.

  1. Navigate to the flight plan application on the MFW.
  2. Press the MENU Softkey (on the flight plan application window side of the display bezel when in split screen mode).
  3. Scroll if necessary and touch the Hold at Present Position Button.
  4. Touch the Course Datafield Button.
    1. Using the 'Course' keypad, enter the inbound or outbound course desired and touch the Enter Button.
  5. Touch the Direction Selection Button to switch between Inbound or Outbound.
  6. Touch the Turn Selection Button to switch between Right Turn or Left Turn.
  7. Touch the Leg Type Selection Button to switch between Time or Distance.
  8. Touch the Leg Time/Distance Datafield Button.
    1. If entering a timed leg, use the 'Leg Time' keypad to enter a value between 00:30 and 09:59 minutes and touch the Enter Button.

      Or:

      If entering a distance leg, use the 'Leg Distance' keypad to enter a value between 1 and 99.9 NM and touch the Enter Button.

  9. Touch the Further Clearance Datafield Button.
    1. Using the 'Expect Further Clearance' keypad enter a value between 00:00 and 23:59 minutes and touch the Enter Button.
    2. After entering an EFC the pilot may delete the EFC by touching the Delete EFC Button in the 'Expect Further Clearance' keypad window.
  10. Touch the Load Hold Button to finish creating the hold in the flight plan.
