Route Planner

You can use the route planner to create and save a route, which you can navigate later. This can be useful for planning a delivery route, a vacation, or a road trip. You can edit a saved route to further customize it, including reordering locations, adding suggested attractions, and adding shaping points.

Planning a Route

A route can include many stops and shaping points, and it must include at least a starting location and one destination.

  1. Select Apps > Navigation > Route Planner > Add.
  2. Search for or select a location on the map to be the starting point for this route.
  3. If necessary, select a route calculation mode for the route segment.
  4. Select an option:
    • If the next point along your route is a stop, select Stop.
    • If the next point in your route is a shaping point, select Shaping.
  5. If necessary, add additional stops or shaping points.
    NOTE: The last stop you add is the route destination.
  6. If necessary, select Route destination list to rearrange the order of stops and shaping points along the route.
  7. After you have finished planning the route, select Save.

Editing and Reordering Locations in a Route

  1. Select Apps > Navigation > Route Planner.
  2. Select a saved route.
  3. Select List.
  4. Select a location.
  5. Select an option:

    • To change the location, select Wrench icon, and enter a new location.

    • To move the location up or down, select Reorder locations, and drag the location to a new position in the route.

    • To add a new location after the selected location, select Add a shaping point.

    • To remove the location, select Delete.

Changing Routing Options for a Route

You can customize how the device calculates your route.

  1. Select Apps > Navigation > Route Planner.
  2. Select a saved route.
  3. Select Edit route icon.
  4. Select an option:

    • To change the calculation mode for the route, touch a route segment, and select a calculation mode.

    • To add shaping points to your route, touch a route segment, select Insert > Shaping, and select at least one location.

  5. Select Checkmark to confirm your changes.
  6. Select Save.

Navigating to a Saved Route

  1. Select Apps > Navigation > Route Planner.
  2. Select a saved route.
  3. Select Go!.
  4. Select the first location to navigate to, and select OK.
  5. Select Start.

    The device calculates a route from your current location to the selected location, and then it guides you to the remaining route destinations in order.

Editing Your Active Route

  1. Drag the map to reveal the Route planner icon icon.
  2. Select Route planner icon.
  3. Select an option:

    • To recalculate the route to your next stop using a different route calculation mode, select the new calculation mode.

    • To add a stop or shaping point before your next stop, select Insert.

      You can select Search to search for a location, or you can select a point on the map to add it to your route.

    • To rearrange the order of the stops and shaping points along your route, select Route destination list.

  4. When you have finished editing the route, select Checkmark.

Saving Your Active Route

  1. Drag the map to reveal the Route planner icon icon.
  2. Select Route planner icon.
  3. Select Checkmark.
  4. Select Save to save the route.
  5. If necessary, edit the name of the route, and select Done.
