Profiles

The Edge® bike computer has several ways for you to customize the device, including profiles. Profiles are a collection of settings that optimize your device based on how you are using it. For example, you can create different settings and views for training and mountain biking.

When you are using a profile and you change settings such as data fields or units of measurement, the changes are saved automatically as part of the profile.

Activity Profiles

You can create activity profiles for each type of biking. For example, you can create a separate activity profile for training, for racing, and for mountain biking. The activity profile includes customized data pages, activity totals, alerts, training zones (such as heart rate and speed), training settings (such as Auto Pause® and Auto Lap® features), and navigation settings.

TIP: When you sync, activity profiles are saved in your Garmin Connect™ account and can be sent to your device at any time.
User Profile

You can update your sex, age, weight, and height settings. The device uses this information to calculate accurate ride data.

Biking Activity Profiles

Each time you ride with the Edge biking computer, you are prompted to select an activity profile. Each activity profile stores training settings, routing options, and display preferences optimized for the activity. You should select the activity profile based on the type of ride or road surface (Updating Your Activity Profile).

Enduro MTB

This is a mountain bike profile that specifically tracks ascents and descents separately on unpaved terrain, and records descent GPS in 5Hz if enabled (5Hz Data Recording). You manually press the Lap symbol button as you transition between climbs and descents, and the bike computer displays a notification summarizing the completed split. You can enable Auto Pause settings for the climb and descent portions of the ride. This activity profile also tracks trail difficulty, and the map provides shaded relief and contours by default.

Downhill MTB

You should use this profile if you are riding a ski lift or transporting your bike uphill, and riding your bike downhill. This profile tracks descents on unpaved terrain, and records descent GPS in 5Hz if enabled. A downhill descent is called a run, and after each run, the bike computer displays a notification with run summary data. Activity summary totals do not include any ascent data. This activity profile also tracks trail difficulty, and the map provides shaded relief and contours by default.

Tour

This activity profile is ideal for navigating to specific destinations on mixed terrain surfaces. For example, if you create a route that includes trails mixed with roadside attractions or campgrounds.

Indoor

The bike computer includes an indoor activity profile where GPS is turned off. Select this profile if you are training indoors or want to save battery life. When GPS is turned off, speed and distance are not available unless you have a compatible sensor or indoor trainer that sends speed and distance data to the device (Wireless Sensors).

Setting Up Your User Profile

You can update your sex, age, weight, and height settings. The device uses this information to calculate accurate ride data.

  1. Select Menu symbol > My Stats > User Profile.
  2. Select an option.

Gender Settings

When you first set up the device, you must choose a sex. Most fitness and training algorithms are binary. For the most accurate results, Garmin® recommends selecting your sex assigned at birth. After the initial setup, you can customize the profile settings in your Garmin Connect account.

Profile & Privacy

Enables you to customize the data on your public profile.

User Settings

Sets your sex. If you select Not Specified, the algorithms that require a binary input will use the sex you specified when you first set up the device.
