Connecting Directly to a Wi‑Fi Network Using WPS

NOTICE

Connecting to a public or unsecured network may expose your video and sensor data to others. Use caution when connecting to an unsecured network.

To control the camera using an existing Wi‑Fi® network, the network must be set up to allow connected devices to see and communicate with each other.

If your wireless router or access point supports Wi‑Fi Protected Setup (WPS), you can quickly connect your camera directly to the Wi‑Fi network without using the Garmin® VIRB® app.

  1. Bring the camera near your wireless router or access point.
  2. From the camera's main menu, select Wireless > Wi-Fi.
  3. If necessary, select the Wi-Fi toggle switch to turn on the Wi‑Fi radio.

While the Wi‑Fi radio is turned on, additional options appear in the Wi-Fi menu.

  4. Press Right arrow to select WPS, and press OK.

The camera begins searching for a WPS-enabled Wi‑Fi network.

  5. Within two minutes, enable the WPS feature on your wireless router or access point.

On most dedicated wireless routers, the WPS feature is enabled by pressing a physical button. This button may be labeled with "WPS" or the WPS logo. If your access point is integrated in another type of wireless device, the WPS feature may be enabled in the device settings or an on-screen menu. See the owner's manual for your wireless router or access point for more information.

The camera connects to the Wi‑Fi network.

The camera saves the network information and connects automatically the next time it is turned on and within range of the network. Saved networks appear in the menu on your camera.
