Planar Spatial Audio
While recording using both lenses, your camera can use all four camera microphones to record planar spatial audio. Planar spatial audio records location-specific sound from the 360-degree plane around you. It can precisely represent the location of a sound to the front, back, left, or right of the camera, or any place in between. While playing the video using a compatible player, the audio perspective follows the video perspective when you turn to view different parts of the video. Spatial audio is especially effective when viewing a video using a virtual reality headset.
The following technical specifications are provided for users performing advanced video and audio processing on the recorded file.
The camera uses Ambisonic B-format encoding to record spatial audio into four audio channels in the MP4 file.
