Improving GPS Satellite Reception While Racing

For improved GPS satellite reception and accuracy, you can try these tips.

  • Wear the watch on the wrist near the middle of the car instead of the window.

This position orients the GPS antenna for better reception.

  • Connect your watch to the Garmin Connect™ app using your Bluetooth® enabled smartphone.

While connected to the Garmin Connect app, the device downloads several days of satellite data, allowing it to quickly locate satellite signals and provide predicted satellite positions.

  • Take your watch outside to an open area (away from tall buildings and trees), start a Race activity, and wait while the watch locates satellites.
  • After locating satellites, wait an additional minute to download current orbital parameters to improve accuracy.
NOTE: Carbon fiber cars can block and absorb GPS signals. Interference from carbon fiber cars can affect the accuracy of the GPS antenna.
