Routing the Transducer Cable

You should test-fit the transducer and cable before finalizing the installation.

  1. Allow a loose gap of at least 20 cm (8 in.) 1 around the rotating joint 2 to create a loop 3 in the cable.

    The loop must be large enough to allow full rotation of the transducer in both directions, so you can use a guideline of 10 cm (4 in.) above and 10 cm (4 in.) below when establishing the loop. You should allow a minimum of 25 cm (9.8 in.) of transducer cable to cover the 20 cm (8 in.) section between the points where you secure the cable to the shaft.

  2. Use black electrical tape 4 to secure the transducer cable to the shaft.
  3. Test the full rotation of the trolling motor to ensure the cable clears the rotating joint and is not pulled tight due to tension during rotation.
  4. Route the transducer cable through your vessel to the power source and your chartplotter.
  5. Connect the included Y-split cable to the end of the transducer cable.
  6. Connect the positive (red) cable to the positive terminal on your power source, observing proper fusing.
  7. Connect the negative (black) cable to the negative terminal on your power source.
  8. Connect the Garmin BlueNet™ cable to your compatible chartplotter or network switch, using an adapter cable if your chartplotter or switch has only a Legacy Garmin® Marine Network port.
