Considerations when Replacing a Previous Fusion Stereo
If you are replacing a previous Fusion® stereo, you may be able to use the existing 15 A power cable harness with this stereo. Read these considerations and only proceed with using the existing power cable if they are met.
- If you are not connecting speakers to the stereo as you plan to connecting the stereo to an external amplifier instead, you can use the existing 15 A power cable harness. Observe the considerations for installations using an external amplifier only (New Installations Using Only an External Amplifier).
- If you are connecting speakers to the stereo to use the internal amplifier, you can use
the existing 15 A power cable as long as you observe these considerations:
- The power cable must be rated for 15 A or higher.
- The fuse or circuit breaker connected to the positive wire must be 15 A
- The maximum voltage drop that can be experienced by the stereo is 1.0 Vdc for a 12 Vdc system or 2.0 Vdc for a 24 Vdc system.
- You must set the correct speaker profiles for your connected speakers in the DSP
settings of the Fusion Audio app.
Installing the stereo using an existing 15 A power cable without setting the correct speaker profiles will result in amplifier clipping and may blow the fuse.
