Emergency Page Operations
The 'Emergency' Page is a feature intended to assist the pilot in an emergency with the process of Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. The 'Emergency' Page is accessed by pressing the EMER Softkey, or if enabled, touching the EMER Button on the Audio & CNS Bar at the top of the display.
The 'Emergency' Page consists of the following features:
- A Smart Glide Button which is discussed in more detail later in this section and is only available if a glide speed is configured.
- An AFCS must be installed and configured for the following features to function:
- An Activate 180° Turn Button which will activate the AFCS lateral Heading Mode, and the Vertical Speed Mode to zero. When activated a short-term banner will appear below the HSI, "Emergency 180° Turn in Progress".
- A Level Mode Button which activates the AFCS Level Mode (refer to the Level Mode discussion in the AFCS Section for more details).
- A 'Nearest Airport' or 'Best Airport' identifier is displayed with distance/bearing
information to that airport. The following criteria dictate the best airport or nearest
indications:
- 'Best Airport' － (Only available when Smart Glide™ is enabled) Displayed when a glide speed is configured and an airport is within glide range.
- 'Nearest Airport' － Is displayed whether glide speed has been configured or not, and shows the distance and direction to the closest airport. When glide speed is configured, the nearest airport might not always be within glide range.
- A Change Airport Button that only allows the pilot to change the airport when Smart Glide is active, and there are multiple airports within glide range that are suitable to land at (meet configured landing criteria). When pressed opens a 'Smart Glide Alternate Airport' Window that lists all available airports with runway dimensions and bearing/distance information to each one.
- A map is displayed that automatically zooms out far enough to view the entire glide range ring. If glide speed is not configured the map will zoom to a distance to show the nearest airports.
- The aircraft 'Current Position' is displayed below the map. This is displayed as distance and direction from the neareast airport accompanied by the altitude above ground level (AGL).
- Two communication radio frequencies buttons and a transponder emergency button is
displayed at the bottom of the 'Emergency' Page. If no COM or XPDR is configured to
interface with the AXIS™, these fields are displayed as data fields only for situational awareness.
- Two COM Buttons － One will display the emergency frequency, the other will display the tower or CTAF frequency for the best/nearest airport. When pressed a window prompts the pilot to load the frequency into the active or standby frequency of the radio(s).
- Transponder Button － Displaying the emergency transponder frequency, it will prompt the pilot to set the transponder to that frequency when pressed.
