Banner Messages

Banner messages are presented to the pilot on the bottom of the flight display, centered below the HSI. If more than one banner message is active they are prioritized by precedence with the higher priority messages being displayed over the lower priority messages. When the highest priority message is acknowledged the next higher priority message will be displayed.

There are two types of banner messages; long-term banner messages and short-term banner messages. Long-term banner messages are higher priority messages that will remain on the banner until acknowledged by the pilot. These long-term banner messages, with few exceptions, are also available to be viewed under the system messages tab in the messages window for as long as the condition persists. Short-term banner messages are a lower priority and will remain active in the banner for 15 seconds, or until acknowledged (whichever comes first).

Table 62: Banner Messages (Long-term)
Banner Message Alert Text Description
[Display ID] Touchscreen Fault: Use Buttons and Knobs The system has detected a touchscreen module fault. Use knobs and buttons to operate the system.
Glideslope 1/2 inoperative: Use Alternate Navigation Source Glide slope functionality on NAV1/2 is not available. ILS approach operations and AFCS GS coupling are unavailable.
VOR1/2 Approach: NAVAID deviation not available This message appears when GPS is used as an alternate means of navigation for a VOR approach while monitoring VOR1. It indicates that VOR1 is flagged. A VOR-based approach may not be continued using GPS as an alternate means of navigation if VOR deviation is not available.
Abort Approach: Loss of GPS navigation Displayed when GPS integrity has been lost while on an approach at or beyond the FAF.
Unable <SBAS APR>: SBAS not available for approach SBAS not available for approach.
RAIM Unavailable: RAIM not available from FAF to MAP waypoints This message has no user impact unless the aircraft installation supports a third party GPS device that requires automatic approach RAIM prediction. In those very installation specific cases the crew must refer to the appropriate aircraft documentation for user impact. The check that would result in this message is not performed for installations that do not have the relevant equipment installed.
Flight Plan Advisory: VFR GPS Active, advisory only For VNAV approached the VFR GPS must only be used for advisory purposes only.
Approach ID Mismatch: <CHECK LOC IDENT> The LOC ident received by the NAV radio does not match that which is expected based on the loaded approach. The crew should verify that the correct LOC transmitter is being received and that the correct approach procedure is loaded in the FMS.
GPS1/2 Data not Scaled for IFR : Vertical Guidance Unavailable Due to a data path failure, vertical GPS guidance is unavailable. Lateral guidance is still present, but is not properly scaled for IFR.
Approach Inactive: N/A The system notifies the pilot that the loaded approach is not active. Activate approach when required.
Select appropriate frequency for approach: N/A The active NAV frequency is not correct for the approach procedure. Enter the correct frequency into the active NAV frequency window.
CDI Source: Select CDI source for approach The active CDI source must be switched to the appropriate source for the approach in the flight plan.
Check Course: Database course for LOC 1 / <LOC1 Course> This will not cause a loss of approach capability, but indicates to the user that the selected CDI course does not match the course expected by the database for the loaded approach. The user should check current and approved approach information to determine the correct course.
Check Course: Database course for LOC 2 / <LOC2 Course> This will not cause a loss of approach capability, but indicates to the user that the selected CDI course does not match the course expected by the database for the loaded approach. The user should check current and approved approach information to determine the correct course.
Change Magnetic Reference: Select alternate NAV angle display units A TRUE or GRID referenced approach procedure is active, but the system is currently operating in magnetic angle units.
Change Magnetic Reference: Select magnetic NAV angle display units A magnetic based approach procedure is active, but the system is currently operating in non-magnetic (TRUE or USER) angle units.
Temperature Compensation: ALT Constraint above Transition LVL A temperature compensated approach altitude constraint is in violation of the transition level.
Fuel Reminder: Switch Tanks The user Fuel alarm interval has been met.
Runway Data Not Available: Inhibit SurfaceWatch The next runway in the active flight plan does not support SurfaceWatch™ or the next airport in the active flight plan has a runway(s) that does not support SurfaceWatch. To avoid potential nuisance alerts, SurfaceWatch should be inhibited.
GAD 27 Fault: Flap/Trim Movement May be Impacted If the GAD 27 ECS module is installed to control flap and/or trim movement, a fault in this unit may lead to loss of control of those control surfaces. This condition must be corrected by an installer qualified for maintenance of the aircraft.
<Display ID> Temperature High: Display Backlight Reduced The specified GDU has exceeded normal operating temperature range. Increase cooling to the unit if possible.
<Display ID> Hardware Fault: Fan Failure Detected The specified GDU has reported a fan fault, this may result in the unit exceeding its operating temperature range.
AXIS Display Identity Error: GDU Variant mismatch An AXIS™ GDU assigned display variant disagrees with the hardware variant that is detected. Use the Devices Application in configuration mode to resolve.
Select Runway: Arrival was loaded without a runway Arrival was loaded without a runway.
Table 63: Banner Messages (Short-term)
Banner Message Alert Text Description
VNAV: Top of Descent in 1 minute Aircraft will reach top of descent in 1 minute.
VNAV: Bottom of Descent in 1 minute Aircraft will reach bottom of descent in 1 minute.
Flight Plan Catalog: Last plan in catalog was overwritten by an import The last catalog flight plan was overwritten by a flight plan import. This can occur when the flight plan catalog is full and a flight plan import has resulted in the last catalog flight plan being overwritten.
GPS Integrity Restored: N/A All GPS functions should resume functionality.
Database Sync Complete!: N/A A database sync cycle has completed.
Emergency: 180 Turn In Progress The Smart Glide™ Activate 180° Turn Button has been activated.
Audio Controls Locked: Hold Freq Swap to Unlock Audio panel controls have been locked by the user and will not be functional until the frequency swap button has been held to unlock them.
Hold Expired: N/A The 'Expect Further Clearance' time has expired for the 'Hold at Waypoint' function in the Flight Plan Application.
