Radial Menu

The Radial Menu provides quick and easy access to review and interact with map items that lie within the inner radius. The Radial Menu also provides a ready means of selecting a direct-to waypoint, creating user waypoints, and inserting a selected point into the flight plan. The Radial Menu can also be used to activate Graphical Edit Mode, which is discussed later in the Flight Planning portion of this Flight Management Section.

The following discussion will provide an overview of the Radial Menu. For supplemental information on this topic refer to the Radial Menu discussion in the System Overview Section. Map items, viewing waypoint information and finding nearest waypoints, using direct-to navigation, viewing the VSD, and flight plan operations are all discussed in more detail later in this section.

The Radial Menu consists of the following elements:
  • Dynamic Buttons: There can be one to four dynamic buttons on the right side of the Radial Menu at any given time based on the available map items that lie within the inner radius.

  • Button: The top, left static button shall be the Button. The Button is always displayed with the Radial menu, but it will be subdued when there are no waypoint elements within the inner radius.

  • Create User Waypoint Button : The middle static button shall be the Create User Waypoint Button.

  • Insert in Flight Plan Button : The bottom, left static button shall be the Insert in Flight Plan Button if the inner radius contains a waypoint that is not in the Active Flight Plan. If no waypoints lie within the inner radius , the Insert in Flight Plan Button will be displayed with the Radial Menu, but is will be subdued.

  • Graphical Reroute Button : The Graphical Reroute Button shall be displayed instead of the Insert in Flight Plan Button if the inner radius contains a waypoint that is part of the Active Flight Plan. If the inner radius contains a waypoint that is part of the Active Flight Plan as well as waypoint(s) that are not a part of the Active Flight Plan, touching this button will display a 'Select From Multiple' Window so the intended waypoint and resulting functionality (Insert in Flight Plan or activate Graphical Edit Mode) can be selected.

  • Info Ring: The Info Ring displays bearing and distance from present position, and elevation relative to what lies within the inner radius.
