After A Missed Approach, How Can the Same Approach Be Re-Selected? How Can A New Approach Be Activated?
Do not attempt to reactivate the current approach before crossing the missed approach point (MAP). The system directs the pilot back to the transition waypoint and does not take into consideration any missed approach procedures, if the current approach is reactivated.
After flying the missed approach procedure, the pilot may reactivate the same approach for another attempt by touching the PROC Button, followed by the Approach or Vectors to Final Button. The system provides navigation along the desired course to the waypoint and rejoins the approach in sequence from that point.
To activate a new approach for the same airport, select the new procedure by touching the Approach [Airport Identifier] button in the flight plan to open the 'Approach Options', then touch the Change Approach Button to open the 'Approach' Window and begin selecting a new approach. Then touch the Approach Button. The display shows a list of approaches as buttons. Scroll as needed and touch the desired approach button, then touch a transition button. The display returns to the ‘Approach Selection’. To activate the selected approach, touch the Load Approach Button or Activate VTF Button.
To activate a new approach to a different airport, touch the Direct-To Button to access the ‘Direct-To’ Screen. Then touch the waypoint point and enter the desired airport using the keypad. Touch the Enter Button to accept the selected airport, then follow the steps in the preceding paragraph to select an approach for the new airport.
