Smart Glide Operational Behavior for Map Overlays

When the Map Overlay is set to Off before Smart Glide activation, Smart Glide automatically changes the Map Overlay to Terrain. During Smart Glide operation, the pilot may change the Map Overlay selection as desired. If or when Smart Glide is deactivated, the Map Overlay is restored to the Off setting as it was before Smart Glide was activated.

Smart Glide does not change the Map Overlay setting if Terrain or Weather is selected before activation. The selected overlay remains enabled during Smart Glide operation, and the pilot can continue to modify the Map Overlay selection as needed. If or when Smart Glide is deactivated, the system keeps the Map Overlay most recently selected by the pilot and does not return to the overlay setting that was active prior to Smart Glide activation.

For other settings that have a Smart Glide default value, Smart Glide activation temporarily applies the associated default setting during operation. The pilot may modify the setting while Smart Glide is active. If or when Smart Glide is deactivated, the system restores the setting to the value selected before Smart Glide activation. This behavior is consistent with overlay behavior when the Map Overlay is initially set to Off.

For settings that do not have a Smart Glide default value, Smart Glide does not modify the setting during operation. The pilot may continue to adjust the setting as desired while Smart Glide is active, and the system preserves the last pilot-selected value if or when Smart Glide is deactivated. This behavior is consistent with overlay behavior when the Map Overlay is initially set to Terrain or Weather.
