External GPS Failure

If configured, the external GPS shall be considered the Primary GPS, and the internal VFR GPS may be utilized as a Backup GPS. The VFR GPS is continuously being monitored and compared to the Primary GPS, so that a seamless and automatic transition to the VFR GPS will be made if the Primary GPS fails.

If all configured external GPS sources fail, and configured to do so, the AXIS™ flight display will revert to using the internal VFR GPS for emergency Direct-To navigation guidance and position data on the moving map. In this case, a system message is generated and Direct-To navigation using the internal VFR GPS becomes available. Direct-to navigation is discussed previously in this section. TAWS/terrain features are not available with the internal VFR GPS.
