Uses of the Beat Yesterday lockup will differ, based on specific circumstances. This key is designed to provide a general visual guideline, so the designer has flexibility when executing specific assignments under the Beat Yesterday umbrella.

Layout circumstances will dictate whether the stacked lockup is left justified, right justified or unstacked on a single line. Style options will allow the mark to accommodate specific assignments. If the product needs emphasis, the stack can be reversed with the product flag on top. If a cleaner, simpler design is needed, the type can appear on its own without being reversed out of the bars.

Tags

When creating a new product tag, the device name should be in all lowercase, unless there are legal restrictions forcing an uppercase usage. The device name should be placed in a tag if paired with the Beat Yesterday lockup. The copy should also be knocked out of the tag.

The height of the tag should touch the tallest ascender and descender while using the typeface Helvetica Neue Bold in lowercase (use a “b” and a “y” for reference). The tag is half the height of the tags used for “beat” and “yesterday.” The alignment is justified right with “yesterday” tag, regardless of the usage. Drop shadows give the lockup some depth and should be used to separate each layer of the tag. In some cases, where a 4-color process cannot be used, the lockup can exist without the shadows.

Multiple Products

In some cases, 2 or more products may be featured in a single piece of advertising. When this occurs, use a category name that represents the products under the Garmin brand. This is done to avoid a lengthy flag that will disrupt the layout or simply won’t work in other extreme cases where space is an issue.

  • Garmin Running
  • Garmin Fitness
  • Garmin Golf

Spacing

The space around the entire lockup should be equal to or greater than the height of the “yesterday” tag.
