Garmin® Fishfinder 240 Blue Enhances Family of Offshore Sonars

OLATHE, Kan. — Garmin International, a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), unveiled its newest saltwater sonar today — the Fishfinder 240 Blue — which rounds out the company’s Fishfinder Blue series of products.

Like the Fishfinder 160 Blue, the Fishfinder 240 Blue offers offshore anglers 4,000 watts of power peak to peak (500 watts RMS) and dual frequency (50/200 kHz) for shallow or deep water performance. The Fishfinder 240 Blue boasts a high-resolution, 240x240-pixel count on a four-level grayscale display. And like all Garmin fishfinders, it utilizes the company's patented See-Thru® technology to detect weak and strong signals that allow the angler to see fish in structure and thermoclines. The unit’s graphic whiteline provides a clear picture of the bottom hardness and contour.

"We are pleased to offer another affordable sonar solution to the offshore market," said Gary Kelley, Garmin's director of marketing. "The Fishfinder 240 Blue delivers the power and sonar quality on a beautiful display to help enthusiasts meet the challenges of going deep in their saltwater fishing pursuits."

The Fishfinder 240 Blue is expected to be available in early 2002 with a suggested retail price of $399 — which includes speed and temperature sensors.
