This basemap comes factory installed with the StreetPilot.

Please note: Garmin mapping units come with built-in, permanent basemaps that cannot be altered. These basemaps come in a variety of global designations (ie., Atlantic basemap). Please see your local dealer when purchasing a Garmin mapping unit to ensure that you purchase one with a basemap that's appropriate for your location and needs. Factory-installed basemaps cannot be altered.

The North America basemap provides detailed mapping for the continental United States, Southern Canada, and Mexico, and covers an area from W135 to W45 Longitude, N15 to N60 Latitude. It is capable of zooming to 20 mile scale (5 mile scale on the ruler).

The standard map coverage includes:

1. Political boundaries (international, state and provincial borders)
2. Major Interstates, National and State level highways, plus some local roads in or near urban areas
3. Cities - all populations
4. Oceans and islands
5. Rivers and major streams
6. Lakes larger than 5 square miles
7. Lakes larger than 1 square mile (only in the continental United States)
8. Major Airports

Additionally, the North America basemap includes a high-level worldwide map with political boundaries and major cities
