"StreetPilot fan upgrades to a StreetPilot III"

This is my second Garmin product. I had a StreetPilot first, and now I have a StreetPilot III with voice. I used it for the first time this weekend. I can't tell you how happy I am with this product. From routing down the interstates to sending me a different way on the back roads (which was a short cut), the StreetPilot III worked perfect. I totally enjoyed my trip with my StreetPilot III at my side. I don't know how you will update all of the new roads that are being built here around Myrtle Beach, SC.

I thank you for a fine product worth the price.

"StreetPilot III is essential equipment for this patrol sergeant"

I am a patrol sergeant with a large sheriff's department in Northern California. I use my StreetPilot III every night I work. I do not use my map book anymore. When I get a call, especially a hot call, I just enter the address into the StreetPilot III and it does the rest. No more looking for street signs or addresses in the dark. The StreetPilot III clearly advises me (in a clear loud voice) which direction to drive and advises when I am approaching (in a distance of yards) and at my intended location.

While driving Code-3, this feature is outstanding and a real safety factor. I can concentrate on my driving and traffic conditions without having to worry about looking for street signs while driving at high speeds. The electronic voice clearly advises me of everything I need to know about driving to my destination.

Knowing your location during a high-speed pursuit is no easy task, especially when zig-zagging through unfamiliar streets in the dark. The StreetPilot III makes this possible at all times. You never know when you will need help. If you do not know your location, your beat partners may not find you in time. This can be the difference between life and death.

I cannot believe all the years I worked without such a valuable tool. The StreetPilot III should be standard equipment in every police vehicle in America. It makes the job easier and safer.

Sincerely,
R.M.

"Couple makes StreetPilot III a 'permanent traveling companion'"

Hello,

I recently purchased a StreetPilot III as a replacement for paper maps for a planned cross-Canada trip. I got it just for the "cool toy" factor. After using it for a few days, it proved to be indispensable. On a trip from Toronto to the Maritimes, the highway was shut down near Montreal, and all four lanes of traffic got dumped into an industrial area. The GPS quickly and automatically recalculated our route through back streets and got us on our way again. We had cars following us because it was evident that we "knew Montreal like the back of our hand" :-).

The unfortunate thing about the StreetPilot III, for me at least, is how useful it is and how easy it is to use. My wife, a real estate agent, has "adopted" my StreetPilot III for daily use, and I've lost my cool toy. Marlene now routinely uses the StreetPilot III when showing houses to her clients. She uses the PC-based application to find all the houses she plans to show, creates a waypoint for each one, and displays them on a large, detailed map that includes points of interest such as schools and stores. During her trip with her client, she simply auto-routes to the next waypoint and lets the StreetPilot's voice prompts guide her to her destination while she talks with her clients about the various points of interest along the way.

Our StreetPilot III has earned its place as a permanent traveling companion on all our trips. Outstanding product, Garmin. It's no wonder you're the industry leader.

"Hunting for houses with a StreetPilot III"

Prospective Buyers:

Look no more. This is the most comprehensive and easy-to-use system out there. Not only that, it is portable and very affordable. I never really knew how great it was until I moved to Vancouver, WA. When we were house hunting. we just programmed the addresses to the houses we wanted to look at and it led us right to them. It was much easier than stopping at 7-11 for directions.

Whoever said guys never stop and ask for directions was right. Those guys obviously had a StreetPilot III.

Regards,
P. S.

"This StreetPilot III is a best buy"

After reading all the comments here, I just had to express my feelings too about the new StreetPilot lll I purchased a few weeks ago. I am a gadget man with computers and digital cameras, etc. I had no need for this device, being retired from GM some 15 years ago. That is until I overheard some of my family discussing GPS systems. I did get lost a few times in my life and this conversation came to me load and clear. I took the StreetPilot lll for a test run.

I am going to Whidbey Island, west of Seattle, in a few weeks by way of the Tacoma Seattle airport, and renting a car for our trip to the Island where my son and family lives. I can tell that I will not have any problem getting to where I want to go with this unit after testing it out here in the Lansing Michigan area. I have a training tape from Garmin which came in handy, as well as the manual which came with the unit. I would like to have a show-and-tell about this StreetPilot lll unit for (people) who feel like the price is too high. I think it is well worth the asking price.

 Best of this year's purchases....

"'Erma' helps make navigating a snap"

We bought the StreetPilot III to assist us on our cross-country trip. We visited 28 states in 4 weeks and found our Garmin to be indispensable. My son pre-programmed every leg of the trip, including points of interest, lodging, and places to eat. I can't tell you how easy it made everything. No guess work was required. Time after time, we found motels, restaurants, highways, and byways by just following the voice commands from our StreetPilot III. It made navigating effortless and provided us with trip time information that allowed us to make the most of our days. We affectionately named it "Erma", and I'm so glad I purchased the unit. Anyone going cross country (or cross town) should take one along. You'll get to where you want with ease and peace of mind.

"Business travel with the StreetPilot III"

Dear Garmin,

I can't tell you how pleased I am with the StreetPilot III. I travel a lot for business and it is so nice to know that I am not going to get lost. When I travel in unknown areas, I am no longer stressed. I am amazed at how easy it is to program in a specific address or to find one of the hundreds of pre-programed points of interest.

Thanks,
Steve

"Scottsdale Golfers put their StreetPilot III Deluxe through its paces"

I recently purchased the StreetPilot III Deluxe version prior to a golf trip with 20 players in the Scottsdale, AZ area. I preset the waypoints for the lodging, courses and restaurants in Oregon. When we arrived at the rental car agency in Phoenix, I placed the unit on the dash of the van and it only took 20 seconds to get the new satellites for starting routing. For four days it flawlessly directed us to the courses, dining, and more. I waited for a long time for a unit that was portable and gave audio, visual, and precise directions. It impressed all the players, so you will get additional sales of this unit.  Thanks for such a valuable product.

"U.K. business travel made easy with the StreetPilot® III"

I bought a StreetPilot III in November 2001, and it has proved to be an invaluable aid to navigation, especially in built-up areas. My job takes me to various destinations in the U.K., typically to city centres and industrial parks. The first time I used it, I have to admit that I printed off directions and had a map on the passenger seat 'just in case.' I needn't have bothered. The unit guided me to a city centre location with pinpoint accuracy and rerouted to my destination when I had to avoid a street due to roadwork.

Compared to built-in units, the StreetPilot III represents excellent value for the money, and downloading maps to the data card is simple and quick.

"Father and son are amazed by StreetPilot III features, performance"

My father purchased his StreetPilot III yesterday, and within a couple of hours of opening the package, we had downloaded the U.K. maps and taken it for its first test run. To say I was impressed is the understatement of the year. It is so easy to use and so incredibly accurate, that on the return journey, it even told us to turn right into the front drive of my father's house and announced we had arrived when the car was on the exact spot we started the journey. The StreetPilot III is a very user-friendly product, but I was particularly impressed — when deliberately going off-route — with how easily it recalculated and got us back on the correct route. Congratulations on making a truly excellent, easy-to-use portable GPS device. I am going to buy one myself immediately.

"Paramedic finds unit helpful for work and play"

I bought the Garmin® StreetPilot III about a year ago. I'm still amazed at what this piece of equipment can do. I am a paramedic with a response territory of over 50 square miles. There is no way to learn all of this area, and the StreetPilot III has been a lifesaver.

This unit also makes going out of town on vacation so much fun because you always know where you're at and how to get to points of interest while you're in an unfamiliar place. Let's not forget service after the sale — Garmin has an easy-to-navigate Web site with new downloadable software upgrades for free. Each time I had a question, it was always answered with great speed and professionalism by the Garmin staff. I had to send the unit in for service after a battery corroded, and I had a new one in hand within about a week — WOW!

I cant say enough. This product and the Garmin staff have made it the best of its kind. I would highly recommend it to anyone who leaves their house!

"StreetPilot III handles the driving and boating navigation for Arizona couple"

Having read some of the stories of satisfied StreetPilot III owners, I couldn't resist adding my own. My wife and I travel quite a bit, especially in the summertime, pulling our 30-foot trailered houseboat behind. It's an RV as well as a boat and serves both purposes. We have traveled all over the country and into Canada, from coast to coast, and have depended on our StreetPilot III both on land and on water.

I believe that directionality is an inherited characteristic and I, for one, seem to have inherited a very bad sense of direction. In fact, I have difficulty finding my way out of a parking lot and I find it impossible to return to "point A" if I make more than two turns seeking "point B." Fortunately, I have a wife with a good sense of direction. Unfortunately, she can't read a map worth a darn and has often made costly mistakes. Thank God (or should I say Thank Garmin) for the StreetPilot III! It has saved us on many occasions on land and on sea, not to mention our marriage.

But now my marriage is in jeopardy once again. Since trading up to the StreetPilot III with voice prompts, I have become more and more dependent on "her" and my wife is showing signs of jealousy. "Gypsy" (as I have named the female voice from the GPS) is always there and never lets me down.

The StreetPilot III has been the answer to all of our traveling problems and has reduced our stress significantly. The voice prompts allow me to keep my eyes on the road while driving, and the tracking feature has gotten us back from some pretty isolated spots on the water. We have mounts in the boat as well as the truck, and we transfer the unit between them. We carry a laptop computer and a variety of MapSource® CDs so we can program our way across the country.

The StreetPilot III is a great product and I endorse it wholeheartedly. Thank you.

"StreetPilot III proves its worth"

Dear Garmin,

Congratulations!

I run a GPS III® Plus at present, and was actually about to buy a GPS V®. In the last minute, I decided otherwise and bought your brand new StreetPilot III, which comes these days into the U.K. shops. It had its hot test tonight for a short business trip from London to Southampton and back. I am not thrilled easily by technical gadgets these days, but with your new product, I could not stop smiling the whole way. Fan - tas - tic. Very precise, superb crisp display, easy to use and my unbeatable favourite: the "find / route to it" function. An excellent solution is the combination between "current route page" [text only] and "next turn page" [split screen with text & graphic]. The text includes everything [north, south, west and east in brackets] and even the names of the next streets/towns as a driving direction. This, all together, makes it a very powerful tool, and I was much more relaxed on my way. Again: Very well done—great product.

Yours Faithfully,

"Firefighter/Paramedic uses StreetPilot III on calls"

I have recently purchased the Garmin StreetPilot III. I did a lot of "homework" prior to purchasing this item and had high expectations for it. Well, I'm pleased to share that my expectations were greatly exceeded. I am a firefighter/paramedic and use this product both at work and for personal trips. At work, if I get an emergency call outside of my usual call area, I simply have the unit route me to the address, and it puts me right at the front door. It saves time and stress. You just can't get lost! The Garmin staff is very helpful and continuously provide new upgrade info downloads. I just can't say enough. Garmin, you're the best!

"StreetPilot III owner is lifelong Garmin user and fan"

I write to tell you how satisfied I am with your products. My first Garmin was a GPS 40 that my wife and I used for hiking. Besides being easy to use, it worked great. Naturally, when it came time to buy an aviation GPS, I again chose Garmin—a GPS III Pilot—for all the same reasons. The device was powerful, easy to use, and built to last.

When you released the GPSMAP® 295, I had to have one—and it is a spectacular unit. It is intuitive, powerful, and though I have been flying since well before GPS existed, I simply don't fly without it. I also now have a StreetPilot III which, again, is a superior product. Imagine my surprise when I was driving down Interstate 5 in Southern California and the StreetPilot III issued a status report: "Driving in the HOV lane". It knows what lane I am in! Wow!

While your products are fabulous, your service is unequalled! On Monday, I brought my GPSMAP 295 to the office to download and upgrade the firmware only to discover that the batteries had leaked and damaged the unit. I called your friendly support staff and was given an RMA number and a ship-to address. I sent my Garmin overnight to Olathe and, to my utter amazement, I got it back this morning (Wednesday). It was repaired, updated, and in perfect condition again.

You guys are simply the best. I recommend Garmin to anyone who is looking for a GPS.

Yours Truly,

"Traveling Oregon and Alaska with our StreetPilot III"

I want to tell you how much I enjoy your StreetPilot III. We have just returned from a 2-month trip from Oregon to Alaska and back. I had purchased my StreetPilot III two days before we left and had it up and running that night. I had loaded the needed MapSource for the trip prior to us leaving, so we had every place we were going. We had also bought the Milepost maps, as those are the suggested maps for the trip. After the first few days, we put the Milepost away and used the StreetPilot III for all the directions. It was great to have in towns that we had not been it before. We could find everything we needed, from fuel to food. My wife was very happy that she did not have to follow maps and try to read instructions while we were driving. I would recommend this to everyone who travels. It is the only map you need!

"StreetPilot III gets us through the Scottish Highlands"

Our StreetPilot III was indespensible last summer! We were going to Scotland, by way of Iceland and England, for a month, with plans to drive around the highlands on our own, and with pre-paid reservations for every night. Obviously, we had to be on schedule, and couldn't afford to get lost! We bought the Street Pilot III and the CD for the UK and programmed the Garmin before we left.

When in Scotland, we bought Ordinance Survey maps that showed region by region, every road, building, ruin, mountain and stream. Between the two we were able to navigate those mostly unmarked single-track roads, multiple roundabouts, and sheep tracks with ease! We had a wonderful trip, with our biggest worry—getting lost in the wild highlands of Scotland—alleviated, thanks to our Garmin. We were able to find and visit out-of-the-way ruins, circles of standing stones, and ancient sites way off the regular tourist routes.

We toured from Edinburgh, through Kilberry, the Western Isles of Mull and Skye, up to Inverness, down through the Cairngorms to Forfar, (chasing dead relatives ;-) ) Lawrencekirk, Arbroath, then through Sterling to Glasgow, and finally winging home.

"Weekend biker's StreetPilot III"

This is my first Garmin. I can't tell you how much I've used the StreetPilot III. I'm a "weekend biker" and take this unit everywhere. Those back roads are great to ride on, and how to get there (and back) is something I never have to worry about with the StreetPilot III! I've "marked" a lot of good places, found those "out in the boonies" gas stations, and planned a lot of return trips I could never have remembered! Everyone that's seen it is so impressed!! I'm moving north soon, and boy, being able to navigate around a new town with no fear is one less thing I have to worry about! Thanks Garmin! I'm a customer for life!

"StreetPilot III is a stress reliever"

Ladies and Gentleman,

Just a quick note to inform you of how wonderful the StreetPilot III is. Upon receiving it, this unit was up and working within 15 minutes. I had one small problem, and with a five-minute phone call to your tech help, I was on my way.

I have been following the advances in this unit for the last year or so. My need was for a system that could navigate me through my outside sales territory of North Jersey, the five borough of NY, and the lower part of New York State. In researching all the competition out there, looking at the:

  • (competitor's unit, retailing for about $2,800),
  • the (competitor's unit, retailing for about $1,900) which is hard wired into my car and not portable at all,
  • and the Garmin StreetPilot III,

I chose your product. This little unit —with all its wonderful options—I feel is MUCH BETTER than others out there. The ease of set-up, user-friendly operation, clear and accurate screen, the voice prompt, being able to use it in any car (at no other cost)—this has taken at least 50 percent of the stress out of my day. Not having to deal with maps, printing and reading directions from the internet, and getting lost is GONE. I now start my day looking forward to driving anywhere needed and can devote all my time to doing my job and visiting clients. In closing, I would like to say thank you for such a wonderful unit and commend you on it. Feel free to use my complements anywhere that will promote this unit and your company.

Respectfully Yours,

M. A. P.
