Custom POI Sources

With the help of Garmin's free POI Loader software, you can upload additional, custom points of interest (POI) to your compatible Garmin device. Below are links to several free and subscription-based services on the Internet that provide these custom POIs.

Garmin’s POI loader converts GPX and CSV files to a proprietary Garmin format (GPI), which is compatible with your Garmin device. Many of the custom POI sources listed below provide points of interest saved in the above file formats or offer POIs that can be converted to POI Loader formats. Please contact the companies below for further information on how to use their POIs with your Garmin unit.

E85 Gas Stations

Defined by the U.S. Department of Energy as an alternative fuel, E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and just 15 percent gasoline. Now you can use your Garmin device to find a nearby gas station that offers E85 in its pumps. This free, downloadable database was created by the Department of Energy and compiled by Garmin using our free POI Loader software. Consumers can contact the stations to verify the availability of E85.

This database can easily be added to your compatible Garmin device:

1. Download the E85 Gas Station GPI file
2. Copy the file to the Garmin/POI folder in your device's internal memory or compatible SD card. (You may need to create the Garmin and/or POI folders.)

Just like that, you're ready to roll!

If you would like to customize, edit or update the E85 database directly, you can download the original CSV file. For more information about POI Loader and CSV files, please refer to the Help menu in the free software download.
