"Boater credits GPSMAP® 2006C with saving boat, life"

I truly believe you guys have saved my boat and my life.

This weekend, some friends and I took my boat from St. Clair Shores, MI, to Cedar Point Amusement Park located in Sandusky, OH. The trip was supposed to take about four hours. It ended up taking about six hours. I checked the weather and it was supposed to be partly cloudy and light rain for the evening. Rain doesn't scare me, so I decided to take the trip. Needless to say, the weather got bad about two-thirds of the way into the trip — too late to turn back, but still a long way from our destination. I was in very deep water in an extremely bad storm. It also got dark on me. I had never been to my destination, so I was very unfamiliar with my surroundings. To make a very long story short, we ended up missing some very shallow areas as well as some very damaging rocks because of my Garmin® GPSMAP 2006C. The boat is damaged from a lot of water entering it, and also, the contents in the boat fell all over the inside, causing damage inside. But, we did make it into the marina in the dark because your GPS showed me the proper way to go. This unit was expensive when I purchased it, but after the fact, it has more than paid for itself.

Thanks again. You make a great product.

"GPSMAP 2006C standard equipment on ITSAZU"

This is not a story about a harrowing experience-just one of adventurous fun:

Our family loves boating and we just purchased a new Cruisers 3075. We decided to take our summer vacation on the Chesapeake Bay, starting the day the boat was delivered to us. I have used moving map GPS units since 1993 on my first boat, ITSAZU (It's a zoo), and the new boat ITSAZU (superscript: 2) was outfitted with the best available GPS that I could find-a GPSMAP 2006C.

With the BlueChart® detailed chart of the Chesapeake Bay installed, we left Kent Narrows to go up the Chester River to a Marina in Chestertown (about 20 miles up river). I have never experienced such comfort in water-way navigation in my many years of boating (I am also a commercial aircraft pilot). We did not have to study the chart for hours beforehand and then plot a safe course though the deep channel using waypoints to create new routes-we just looked at the GPSMAP 2006C and steered a safe course by watching the screen. It was like playing a video game, with the intent being to keep the little arrow pointed in the right direction (only much easier).

We have traveled almost 300 Km. since we have had the new boat (according to the GPSMAP 2006C) and we have only had it for a month! We now confidently travel across the bay at night, and we have traveled up many other rivers to new marinas (also at night) without fear of grounding. The most pleasant experience is not having to plot numerous waypoints in advance of a trip. I can't praise the unit enough. I have exposed several of my boating friends to the unit, and they are equally amazed at its ease of use and clarity (even in bright daylight). Now they know what they want for Christmas. Fair Winds and Following Seas,

A. M. R.
