Q. Can I pair a Bluetooth wireless headset with a Nüvi 310/360/660 or StreetPilot c550 to hear music, audible books, and turn prompts?
A. No. These Bluetooth-enabled devices can pair to a mobile phone to serve as a hands-free kit for talking on the phone but they cannot transmit any other audio signals via Bluetooth.
Q. My nüvi is supposed to speak street names when giving voice prompts but it doesn't. How can I fix this?
A. All of the Garmin automotive GPS units that speak street names are also loaded with basic voice prompts. If one of these types of voice prompts has been selected, the voice prompts will not speak street names.
In order to change this setting on the nüvi line of products, please follow these steps:
- In the Main Menu, tap on the Settings icon.
- Tap on "Locale"
- The second line on this screen has a picture of a mouth. To the right, the current voice for the GPS device is listed. Tap it to change the voice.
- Select a voice that is labeled with (TTS) at the end. These voices will speak street names.
- Select "OK". The voice has now been changed.
Your device should now speak street names.
Q. I have a music file that plays correctly in Windows Media Player but will not play in my Automotive device. Why is this and what can I do?
A. Currently all Garmin Automotive devices play .mp3 files. If a file has an extension of the following, .wav, .wma, or any other that is not .mp3 it will not play.
The file will need to be converted to .mp3 format. Free programs such as Apple iTunes can convert those files. Garmin cannot support the use of this product.
