iQue 3000 FAQs - Detailed List
  1. Q. How do I check which HotSync profile is on my iQue 3000?

    A. To check to see which HotSync Profile the iQue 3000 is using,
    1. Tap on the House icon until the word "System" appears in the top right hand corner of the screen.
    2. On this screen tap on the HotSync icon.
    3. On the HotSync screen, the profile name will appear in the upper-right corner of this screen.

If there is not a user name on this screen, there is no user data on the iQue. Please perform a HotSync and select the correct user profile.

  2. Q. What type of memory card does my iQue 3000 use? Is there a limit to the size of card I can use in my iQue 3000?

    A. The iQue 3000 uses microSD data cards. A 128mb card is included which can be used to download detailed street information from the included MapSource ® City Navigator NT DVD.

The largest card that has been tested by Garmin with the iQue 3000 is 2GB. To load all of the City Navigator maps onto one microSD card, a 2GB microSD card would be needed.

  3. Q. How do I reset my iQue 3000?

    A. To reset the iQue 3000, flip up the GPS antenna. Under the antenna is the "Reset" button. Take the stylus and push this into the reset hole. Remove the stylus and the unit will reset.

  4. Q. What is the best way to clean the display on my iQue?

    A. Use a soft lint-free cloth. The cloth may be used dry, dampened with a mild detergent solution, or dampened with ethanol. Be sure cloth is only dampened, not wet. When using ethanol, avoid contact with the edges of the film or glass and with the flex tail. Wipe the surface gently. If there is a directional surface texture, wipe in the same direction as the texture.

Please note: Never use acidic or alkaline detergents, or organic solvents such as paint thinner, acetone, tolulene, xylene, propyl alchohol, or kerosene.

  5. Q. Does the iQue antenna have to be flipped all the way up to receive satellites?

    A. The antenna will receive satellites as long as it is not locked in the closed position and has a clear view of the sky. It is adjustable to three different positions for satellite reception. For the best reception, the antenna should be parallel to the ground as you hold it or as it sits in your vehicle. For example, in the vehicle mount, the antenna should be at a 90-degree angle to the iQue.

  6. Q. Is the iQue 3000/3200/3600 compatible with Apple Macintosh computers?

    A. Garmin now offers a Palm Desktop for the Mac that is compatible with Mac OS X and above. This is a basic Palm desktop application only. Garmin MapSource options are only available in a Windows format. In the future, Garmin will offer a solution so Mac computers can work with Garmin devices in 2007.

  7. Q. What is WAAS?

    A. WAAS stands for the "Wide Area Augmentation System".

WAAS is an FAA-funded project designed to improve the overall accuracy and integrity of GPS signals for flying in instrument meteorological conditions, primarily during the approach and landing phases of flight. It is a space-based system that broadcasts integrity information and correction data as determined by ground reference stations. At this time, the system is still in the development stage. The goal is to provide reliable signals with an accuracy of seven meters (21-22 ft), both horizontally and vertically, 95+% of the time. Current tests show the actual accuracy to be on the order of 2-3 meters. See http://gps.faa.gov/Programs/WAAS/waas.htm for more information.

For those GPS units that are WAAS enabled, a second antenna is not necessary to receive the signal.

  8. Q. Is the iQue waterproof?

    A. Unlike most GPS units that Garmin has introduced, the iQue 3600 does not have a waterproof rating. The iQue is not recommended for use in, or near, water.

  9. Q. Can I perform real-time tracking with my iQue and a laptop computer?

    A. The Garmin iQue does not have the capability of performing real-time tracking. The iQue does not output data that the computer can use to determine its position for tracking purposes. The HotSync process is the only communications channel and does not have the ability to stay on continuously to transmit/receive data.

  10. Q. How do I activate the GPS on the iQue?

    A. You can turn on the GPS by raising the antenna that is located on the back of the unit. When you do this, the unit will automatically begin searching for satellites. Once it has locked on to three or more satellites, it will pinpoint your location on the electronic map. You can turn the GPS off by lowering the antenna back into the unit.

  11. Q. Can I load a European basemap onto my iQue without purchasing additional software?

    A. The setup CD that comes with the iQue has the Atlantic Lite and Atlantic Standard basemaps for European coverage, as well as the Pacific Lite and Pacific Standard basemaps for Asian coverage. You can even select the Worldwide basemap. All of these can be downloaded to a SD card.

  12. Q. How do I replace my iQue's stylus?

    A. You may order replacements directly from Garmin's Online Store or over the phone (1-800-800-1020). The stylus are the same for the iQue 3200/3600/3600a. The iQue M3/M4/M5 uses a different stylus as well as the iQue 3000. Please make sure that the correct stylus for your unit is ordered.

  13. Q. Can I use a WiFi card with my iQue 3xxx Palm unit to get access to the internet?

    A. The iQue Palm devices are not compatible with WiFi SD I/O cards.

  14. Q. How do I check to see what firmware version is on my iQue 3000?

    A. To check the firmware version, tap on the House icon to get to the Application Launcher screen. Tap on the time tab in the upper left corner of the screen and a menu will drop down. Select Info, and then tap on the Version button. The firmware version information is on the second line of the Info screen. It starts with PalmOS software v.5.2.1r. The number after the "r" is the firmware version.

  15. Q. How do I erase all of my data on my iQue 3000?

    A. To erase all user data press the reset hole on the back of the unit with the stylus while holding down the power button until the Palm OS splash screen is displayed. When the Palm OS splash screen is displayed release the power button. The unit will then display a message that says, "Erase all data". Choose "Yes" by pressing the up button and the unit will clear all user data.

  16. Q. My 3000 did not come with a manual, how do I get one?

    A. The iQue 3000 is shipped with a Quick Reference Guide. If this manual was not in the box, it can also be downloaded at no charge from the Garmin website. Please click here to see the available manuals for the iQue 3000.

There are 3 manuals listed on this page. The Operating Instructions has the instructions for the Palm side of the 3000, the Quick Reference Guide has the instructions for the GPS side, and the Declaration of Conformity has information about RoHS compatibility. These manuals can be saved to your computer.

  17. Q. How do I get the SD/MMC/microSD card out of the slot on the iQue?

    A. The SD/MMC/microSD card in the iQue can be removed by pressing down on the card, and then releasing. The card will pop up so it can be pulled straight out of the unit.
