Garmin®
Fishfinders Take on the Deep Blue Sea
Leading
marine electronics manufacturer unveils impressive line of sounders
for the saltwater market
OLATHE, Kan.
- Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN),
the innovative manufacturer of navigation, communication and fishing
electronics, introduces the Fishfinder Blue Series - a complete
line of sonar products designed with the saltwater fisherman in
mind. With this series, Garmin has taken two of its popular freshwater
sounders - the Fishfinder
100 and Fishfinder 160
- and adapted their features for offshore use.
The Fishfinder
100 Blue and the Fishfinder 160 Blue boast increased power and
dual frequency of 50/200 kHz, which makes them ideal for the saltwater
environment. Higher screen resolution and improved backlighting
also set them apart from their freshwater counterparts.
"Weve
taken two products that have made a big splash in the freshwater
market and have enhanced them so that they can now be enjoyed
more fully by offshore anglers as well," said Gary Kelley,
director of marketing, Garmin International. The word is quickly
spreading that Garmin, the company best known for GPS, is now
also becoming the first name in quality fishfinders - regardless
of whether your favorite fishing spot is the lake or the ocean."
From the outside,
the Fishfinder Blue Series will resemble the freshwater versions,
with the size of the waterproof case and the keypad configuration
remaining the same. The real changes can be found on the inside
with increased power and upgraded displays. The Fishfinder 100
Blue has 2400 watts power, peak-to-peak (300 RMS), 160 x 100 pixels
and includes temperature. The Fishfinder 160 Blue brings 4000
watts power, peak-to-peak (500 RMS) and 160 x 160 pixels. The
Fishfinder 160 Blue will also come standard with speed and temperature
sensors.
The Fishfinder
Blue Series features Garmin's exclusive See-Thru® technology,
a process that will detect both weak and strong signals at the
same time, which allows anglers to see fish even when suspended
inside structure and thermoclines. A graphic whiteline also included
on the sounders provides a clear image of bottom hardness and
structure.
