Garmin®
to Expand its Operations in Olathe
International
electronics company plans groundbreaking for $12 million expansion
OLATHE,
Kan. -- Garmin International, a manufacturer of navigation and
communication electronics, including Global Positioning Systems
(GPS), is pleased to announce expansion of its facilities located
at the corner of 151st Street and Ridgeview Road in Olathe.
In January
1996, the present building was completed and occupied on Garmin
International's
41-acre site. That facility will be more than doubled in size
to approximately 240,000 square feet.
"Garmin
is fortunate to have experienced continuous growth since the formation
of our company 10-years ago," said Gary Burrell, president, Garmin
International. "We are thrilled that favorable acceptance of our
products and services by our customers is enabling us to grow
and to make a greater contribution to this community."
The
expansion project will make room for growth beyond the current
staff of approximately 500 associates.
Garmin
International will hold a groundbreaking ceremony and 10-year
anniversary celebration at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 29. The local
media is invited to attend. Construction on the building expansion
is expected to be completed in 2000.
The
company has additional offices located in Taiwan and England.
