Garmin® Hires Two to Bolster Corporate Communications
OLATHE, Kan. -- Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin
Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), is pleased to announce the hiring of Ted
Gartner as a Senior Media Relations Specialist and David Tierney-Kanning
as a Senior Art Director. "
We’re excited to attract two people that come with such
high credentials and unique skills. Both Ted and David add depth
to our existing team, which will help Garmin's desire to
communicate to the media and our ever-growing base of customers," said
Jon Cassat, Garmin's director of marketing communications.
Gartner’s primary duties include outreach to media in the
marine, outdoor, automotive, and personal digital assistant (PDA)
markets. His hiring comes as Garmin rolls out two unique product
lines -- the iQue™ 3600, the first fully integrated Palm OS and
GPS handheld device – and the Geko™ family of user-friendly,
compact and affordable GPS handheld devices.
Prior to joining Garmin, Gartner was a Managing Supervisor
and media strategist for Fleishman-Hillard in Kansas City, Missouri.
During his tenure, he helped a number of Fortune 500 clients
communicate to the media, customers, employees, stockholders,
and elected officials. Prior to that, Gartner spent nearly a
decade as an Assignment Manager and Field Producer for CNN. In
addition to his expertise in public relations and the media,
Gartner is also an avid hunter, angler, and outdoorsman.
David Tierney-Kanning’s role as Senior Art Director will
utilize the advertising skills he’s honed as a creative
leader at various Kansas City area ad agencies including Barkley & Evergreen,
NHK&W, and VML. Most recently, Tierney-Kanning was Executive
Vice President and Director of Creative Services for Weyforth-Haas
Marketing.
Tierney-Kanning’s work has been recognized in numerous
local and national advertising and design competitions. More
importantly, it has produced results for Fortune 500 clients
in a variety of industries. His experience in brand development
will be invaluable as Garmin products reach out to customers
in new markets.
