CD-ROMs
OLATHE, Kan.
Garmin International, the world's leading manufacturer
of GPS products and accessories, announces a new product that
will integrate the mapping capabilities of GPS with the power
of a PC. MapSource is a new line of CDs that can be used with
the GPS III® Plus and other compatible Garmin GPS receivers. With
MapSource, you simply load maps from your CD, and then download
that information into your GPS III Plus.
For example,
Garmin's U.S. Roads & Recreation CD will provide street
level detail of residential areas, plus rivers, streams, lakes
and navaids in the United States, while the WorldMap CD
provides additional streams, rivers, small roads, and islands
outside the U.S. and includes nautical navigation aids worldwide.
The U.S.
Roads & Recreation CD will be available in January 1999
at a suggested list price of $99. WorldMap will be available
to consumers in February 1999 at a suggested list price of $69.99.
