Garmin® Receives STC for Avionics on Select
Cessna Citation Aircraft
OLATHE, Kan. — Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin
Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), announced today that the company has been
granted a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Cessna Aircraft
Company’s first business jet, the Citation 500 (serial numbers
001-274), paving the way for factory and retrofit installation
of the Garmin avionics suite on Citations.
"We pursued the STC to share the benefits of our avionics
suite with current fleet of Cessna model 500 owners and operators,"
said Gary Kelley, Garmin's director of marketing. "For
existing owners, our avionics suite will bring their aircraft
into the 21st Century, in terms of cutting-edge navigation and
communications capabilities."
The Garmin avionics suite consists of dual GNS 530s and dual
GTX™ 327 digital transponders. At the heart of the Garmin avionics
suite is the revolutionary GNS
530 — an integrated IFR GPS/NAV/ COM/ILS with VOR/LOC
and glideslope on a high-resolution color display, delivering
navigation-critical data on a single screen for easy pilot scanning
and reduced cockpit workload. The GNS 530 also has interface capabilities
for traffic, weather and lightning detection to provide increased
safety and situational awareness to the owner and operator of
the aircraft. The GTX 327
is a Mode-C transponder that displays flight time and current
pressure altitude, and its solid-state design requires no warm-up
time, reduces power output and lowers heat emissions.
This STC is available at no charge through Garmin Authorized
Service and Installation facilities. The STC covers other Garmin
avionics combinations, including GNS 530/430 and dual GNS 430
stacks.
