Garmin® Avionics Now Standard on Eurocopter
Rotorcraft
OLATHE, Kan. Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin
Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN) and the leading avionics manufacturer for
the general aviation market, is pleased to announce that its popular
GNS 430 integrated avionics system
will now be standard equipment on the 2001 EC 130 B4 helicopter
from France-based Eurocopter Ltd.
"This OEM agreement with Eurocopter marks a major penetration
in the rotorcraft market," said Gary Kelley, Garmin's
director of marketing. "Whether the EC 130 is being used
for executive travel or tour operations, our avionics will provide
communication, navigation and critical flight data to simplify
and enhance the flying experience."
The Garmin GNS 430 is an integrated GPS/Nav/Comm with color moving
map on a four-inch (diagonal) display. Already a best seller among
fixed-wing aircraft owners and pilots, the GNS 430 boasts MFD
attributes when coupled with traffic, lightning and weather interfaces
to provide superior situational awareness and flight safety.
The EC 130 B4 is a turbine-powered, single-engine helicopter
with seating capacity for up to seven passengers. It offers ultra-silent
flight and all the amenities of a roomy corporate-class rotorcraft.
Eurocopter is the first rotorcraft manufacturer to bring Garmin
avionics on board as standard equipment. Several manufacturers
currently offer Garmin as optional upgrades in their helicopters,
including Robinson, Schweizer, Agusta, Enstrom and MD Helicopters.
Garmin-equipped EC 130 B4s are expected to deliver in September
2001.
